Peggy's Hometown Designs is a local design business that specializes in building web sites for local organizations, churches, businesses, and individuals.
So, you want to build a web site! There are a few basic things you will need before visitors can view your site.
- An address for your site (also known as a domain)
- A place to put your pages
- Someone who can design your pages using an HTML editor and then upload them to your hosting server
There are many good reasons for building a web page but it is important that your goals are clear. Your objectives should guide the design. You should start by determining your purpose and audience. (see planning sheet)
Once you have an idea of what your site should include. then its time to select and register a domain for your site and set up a hosting account so that you will have a place for your pages.
The next step includes the actual design process. This involves selecting the colors, images, text, and layout that will best communicate your goals for the site.
Finally its time to let others know about your site. Print your web address on newsletters, brochures, flyers, correspondence, key chains, etc. to let visitors know about your new web site. Add your link to online directories. Notify other local organizations with web sites so that they can add a link to your site. Find creative ways to spread the word about your online presence.
